Cybersecurity strategies are crucial for any IT service company. To ensure security and optimal hardware and software performance, we use a firewall that filters traffic and blocks malicious IP addresses from accessing our servers.

In what cases are IP addresses blocked?

An IP address is blocked by the firewall when it is detected in the DROP list of cybercriminals compiled and administered by Spamhaus. Other lists, such as Udger, are also checked.

The IP address will also be blocked if the IP belongs to the anonymous Tor network. Most of Tor’s traffic to the public Internet is related to hacking, SPAM, and other harmful activities.

If it is known that a public proxy server is available over IP that allows other users to use it and ensure its anonymity, such access will be prevented by our firewall as well. Again, a proxy is often used to perform malicious activity.

Finally, if it is seen that a bot is running from the IP address, spamming websites with comments, posts, etc., it will also be blocked. This problem can be a consequence of virus-infected equipment.

How do I check if my IP is blocked?

You can check if the IP address is not blocked here.

You can also always contact us by initiating a chat session, writing a request, or by email.

What if a firewall blocks my IP address?

In case the IP address is blocked, it is first necessary to find out the reason for this. Once this is determined, the root cause of the problem needs to be addressed. If the IP address is on public blacklists, it needs to be removed. For example, Udger offers a delist from here.

Once the cause of the problem has been eliminated, the IP address can be whitelisted.

How to whitelist an IP address?

An IP address is whitelisted when you log in to your client area from it.

If the server is not used for Internet browsing (for example, the IP address belongs to the mail server), we can whitelist it manually. In this case, you need to contact us in the above ways (chat session, writing a request, or by email).

Attention #1 The firewall is updated twice a day at 09.00 and 21.00 (GMT+2). So if after the whitelist IP address you still can’t access our servers, you need to wait for the specified time when the firewall will update the information.
